Natural Birth Stories (Book Review)

Before the birth of my first son, the thought of having a natural birth was not even on my radar. I proudly told my friends and family I fully intended on having my epidural as soon as the doctor would allow so I could enjoy the birth of my son. But the birth of my son was disappointing. It was the result of much medical intervention, preterm labor, and ultimately ended with an emergency c-section. That wasn’t what I had planned or hoped for.

Natural Birth Stories A Review

With my second son, I hoped and prayed for a VBAC and less medical intervention, but a natural birth still wasn’t on my radar. I still planned on getting my epidural as soon as possible. But #2 came fast and furious. By the time I realized I was in labor and made it to the hospital, it was time to push. I was too late for the epidural. I suppose I had a fairly natural birth accidentally. This experience was night and day different from my first birth experience.

I wish I knew how empowering a natural birth could be prior to my first conception.

I wish I had known that birth didn’t have to be scary or overwhelming, but could be a beautiful experience to cherish.

I wish I had this book to help prepare me and assist me in making a knowledgeable decision.

What Will You Find in the Book?

Do you long for a natural birth? Do you just want some information about what natural childbirth looks like? Maybe, like me, the thought of “natural child birth” is terrifying. Whatever camp you’re in, I’d encourage every new mom and mom-to-be to read the book Natural Birth Stories.

  • 26 real stories from real moms.
  • Assistance for moms who want to prepare for an unmedicated birth.
  • A book that will inspire and encourage women towards a natural birthing experience.
  • Information to help you make well-informed decisions.

The stories and educational material are woven in a beautiful and engaging way throughout the book. This book made me smile. I loved reading about the victories of the women throughout these pages. But more than that, when I finished the book I was more informed.

Don’t make your birthing decisions based on fear or because that’s how it’s always done. Make your decisions based on good information, research, and prayer. I love what Shannon says in her introduction,

Do I think every woman should have a natural birth? No. Do I think every woman deserves to make a fully informed decision about how her baby comes into this world? Absolutely!

That is what this book is about. This book is about giving you perspective on what a natural birth can look like. It’s about giving you education that will empower you and help you to make the best decision you can!
