I guess I should say this whole journey started in high school, when I met the man of my dreams and married him six years later. Fast forward to 2013 when I gave birth to our beautiful, spunky baby girl, and that brings me to here. I knew throughout my pregnancy just how much I wanted to breastfeed, but never in a million years did I imagine I’d develop such a strong passion for it.

I’m a firm believer that a mama needs support to get through the trials of breastfeeding. It is because of internet forums, Facebook chats and so on that I was able to overcome so much in our breastfeeding journey. I love helping others and I hope to be a supportive voice for mothers out there who need the encouragement, support and information to continue breastfeeding. I am currently in training to become a certified breastfeeding counselor and a certified childbirth educator; but let’s just say that between a toddler, my duties as a stay at home mother and all of my writing, that my training my take some time (there’s only like 100 manuals and books to read). I am enjoying the wealth of knowledge that I am accumulating right now and I love to share that with others.

Having my daughter changed my life in so many ways. While I have always been one to lean more towards natural and organic things, I never really imagined that I’d become that girl who recycles, cloth diapers and made homemade baby food. I have a strong passion for eco friendly items and toys and I love trying to find more ways to reduce our home and bodies of toxins and chemicals. I’m not perfect though; I struggle big time in the food department as I love to snack. I cook very healthy, shop organic as much as I can and I love to support local farmers, but I just have a chocolate and Oreo problem. I guess you have to have a vice somewhere in life, right?

894111_865332006366_158496485_oAside from being interested in everything to do with healthy, green living, I am pretty much just a normal mama. I live in South Louisiana and although I am a stay at home mother, I do have a college degree that I hope to put to use one day when I can say that I work for myself. I love to read, write, eat, watch a good movie and go on a good date with my husband (which doesn’t happen enough with a baby). I’m also a dancer and a dance teacher, something that I have been doing my whole life. I adore my husband and my daughter and just the sight of them makes my heart want to burst into fifty million pieces.

You can find me over at my blog (my second baby), The Mushy Mommy, where I write about everything from our life to smelly cloth diapers and homemade baby food to homemade cleaners. I have a growing page of baby food recipes and I am on a mission to post fun, educational activities as my daughter gets older. So if you stick with me, I’m sure there’s bound to be something for you. I’d love for you to check me out over at my personal blogFacebookTwitterInstagramPinterest and Google+.
