When it comes to breastfeeding products, there’s a ton of different types and brands out there to choose from. Whether you’re looking for the perfect pair of nursing pads or the prettiest nursing cover around, chances are you might feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices you have.
The same is SO true for breast pumps: a device that is perhaps the most coveted product among breastfeeding mamas. There are numerous brands and types of pumps available for mamas to utilize and try and there are likely a ton of reviews out there (that’s a great thing!). Today we are going to take a look at the Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric Pump with my Breast Pump Review: Ameda Purely Yours.
Prior to purchasing a pump, I sat down and read all I could online to find what I felt was the best pump for me. Reviews are amazing when you’re shopping for any type of baby product; in fact I never cared about reviews prior to becoming pregnant. It’s an amazing community online to hear other mamas talk about their likes and dislikes about a product that you’re bound to end up with.
As a new breastfeeding mama, I wanted a few things in a pump. For starters, I wanted an electric pump, and knowing that I wanted to breastfeed for such a long time, a double electric pump seemed like the right option for me. My goal was to have a freezer stash of milk to last us quite some time and it just seemed appropriate that the best way to build a good stash was to be able to pump both breasts at once. My breast pump was one of the items that I knew we’d splurge on if we were not gifted it. I also wanted something small and simple because I was new at this and wanted the “easiest route” I could find.
So below are some reasons why I chose the Ameda Purely Yours.

Are there any disadvantages? Well, like many products I am sure there are several disadvantages that people may find. For instance, the price is somewhat steep at nearly $200+ in comparison to some brands that can cost around $50 less.
Unfortunately, other than a steep cost, I personally am having a hard time coming up with any other disadvantages to this wonderful pump. As a mother who breastfed for 18 months and had an oversupply in the beginning, this pump helped me out tremendously. I owe my stash partially to this amazing pump that helped me fill our freezers and control my oversupply.
Not every mama will like and enjoy the same pump. Many will find pros and cons of different ones and many will appreciate the various reviews they find on different pumps. If you have access to playing around with various pumps, I suggest doing that (even if it just means fooling with the settings and pieces). Make sure to research reviews and make the decision that seems to best fit your breastfeeding needs.
I highly recommend the Ameda Purely Yours and will continue to use it while breastfeeding my future children.
