Brewers Yeast, Breastfeeding and Cookies

Brewers Yeast, Breastfeeding and Cookies! - Breastfeeding Place #lactation #nursing #breastmilkcookies What if someone told you that a few simple ingredients inside of a warm cookie or a delicious smoothie could actually help you make more mommy milk for that sweet baby of yours?

Enter brewers yeast: breastfeeding moms’ new friend!

There are several ways you can increase your milk supply while breastfeeding, which includes everything from drinking water and Gatorade to taking supplements designed for lactating mothers. Sometimes though, we need an extra dose of yummy goodness to help us get through our busy and hectic day as a new mom. So how about some cookies or a refreshing smoothie?

Brewers yeast is a highly nutritious substance that is actually made from fungus and is commonly used in the production of beer (which explains why some people recommend a beer to increase supply).

Brewers yeast is full of iron, protein, B vitamins, selenium and chormium which can help aid with blood sugar levels and even cholesterol levels. Not only is brewers yeast helpful at boosting milk supply, but it can also help fight that early mom fatigue.

So how can you use this nutritional supplement for your milk production?

Try adding two tablespoons of brewers yeast to your smoothies, milk, juice or your bowl of cereal. There are also brewers yeast supplements available to take if needed. For maximum milk boost (and that yummy goodness I mentioned earlier) you can add brewers yeast and flaxseed meal to some homemade chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. The combination of brewers yeast with flaxseed meal and oats is a powerful fix to help your supply as all three of those ingredients have been proven to boost milk production.

Brewers yeast has very mild side effects but can in some cases can make you gassy; so keep an eye out for any gassy symptoms from your nursling. If you’re using lactation cookies for a milk boost, make sure to eat at least five or six per day in order to see results. While it may seem like a low milk supply is the sign of the end of your breastfeeding journey, just know that it is not. With powerful aids such as brewers yeast and a healthy diet, you are bound to increase your milk for baby. It might just take some work, some patience and a little bit of yummy goodness.
